A commercial fence has a job to do

Commercial fencing is measured differently from a home fence. It has to deter, it has to control who gets in and out, it usually has to keep working while your business keeps operating, and it has to survive a forklift clipping it. So the conversation starts with what the fence is for, not with what it looks like.

We fence yards, depots, plant and storage sites, schools and early childhood centres, subdivisions and construction sites, and rural commercial operations across Dunedin and Otago. Work is planned around your access, your deliveries and your staff, because an entrance closed for a day costs more than the fence.

What we install

Welded mesh security fencing

Rigid welded mesh panels are the workhorse of modern security fencing. They are hard to cut and hard to climb, they do not sag the way chain link eventually does, and because you can see straight through them they keep the site visible rather than giving an intruder somewhere to hide. Available in a range of heights, with or without an angled or barbed top section.

Palisade and steel picket fencing

Steel palisade gives a harder, more formal boundary - vertical pales with a pointed or rounded top and no horizontal footholds. It suits a street frontage, a school perimeter or anywhere the fence is part of how the site presents as well as how it is secured.

Chain link and wire security fencing

Still the most cost-effective way to fence a large perimeter, and the right answer for storage yards, paddock boundaries on commercial land, and sites where the run is long and the budget has to stretch. Galvanised or PVC coated, with barbed or razor topping where the risk justifies it.

Colour steel and slat screening

Where the requirement is privacy or noise rather than security - a plant yard next to housing, a bin store, a compressor enclosure - solid colour steel or steel slat screening does the job and keeps the neighbours on side.

Gates and access

Gates are where most commercial fencing goes wrong, because they are the part that gets used a hundred times a day. We build sliding gates on track or cantilever, double swing gates, and pedestrian gates, sized and braced for the traffic they will actually see. If the gate is to be automated, or tied into a card reader, intercom or keypad, tell us early so the posts, the run and the power provision are built for it rather than retrofitted.

Working on a live site

Most commercial fencing happens while the site is running. We stage the work so the perimeter is never left open overnight, we keep vehicle access clear, and we clean up properly at the end of each day. If your site has an induction, a permit system or a site-specific safety plan, send it through with the enquiry and we will work to it.

Sections that fall away, or a yard that needs levelling before the fence line can run straight, often need a retaining wall first. We can do both rather than you coordinating two trades.

Subdivisions and developers

New subdivisions around Mosgiel and the Taieri need boundary fencing between lots, often to a consistent spec across many sections and often on a schedule that moves. We are happy to price a whole stage, keep the same detail across every boundary so the development looks finished, and work to titles rather than to whatever the last contractor left behind.
